So, I found out that my cousins were coming down for a visit, and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend some of their time here than taking pictures of them. So a few days before they were going to come up I gave them a call and told them to bring some nice clothes to dress up in for photos. I’m sure they were a little surprised, but in the end, they were willing models.

Karly and Rob are two of the most fun people you will ever meet. My brother and I love to spend time with them and try to visit them whenever the opportunity presents itself. Even though they are our cousins, we feel more like they are two of our best friends – always ready for adventure, spontaneous, and just about as responsible as my brother and I. We have had some good times, tell you what. Too many to put on this one post, so I’ll just relate one of them;

We go on this camping trip every year, down to the Missouri River, and every time we come back from said camping trip there are stories to tell. But especially this last one.

This story is about Karly and me. It was us and two other friends in our own boat headed out fishing. Four girls, sunflower seeds, one tank of gas. Nothing could go wrong. At least that’s what we thought. On our way back from catching enough fish to feed the whole group that night, our boat runs out of gas. So we grab the oars and two of us try and paddle this boat to get to shore before we drift into some channel where no one will be able to see us. It took us a couple of tries but with enough willpower, we finally made it happen and found a nice muddy shoreline to sit in wait until another boat drove by. We passed the time with fishing and we built a fire, ate a whole lot of sunflower seeds, and waited. And waited. And waited. We got to the point where we were starting to think about how we’d get water. We only had one bottle of water for the four of us and the river was really muddy so we were trying to figure out how to get creative. Thankfully before it got to that point some of the other people in our group passed by in a boat and lent us some gas. That’s when we found out we had only been stranded for about an hour. Yep. A really good ending to that story.

Anyways, that’s only one of the many stories I have about my cousins. Don’t even get me started on my brother and Rob.
